The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate comprises two units of study: EMC1 and EMC2.

Unit EMC1 – Environmental Management (Open Book Examination)

  • Element 4: Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

Unit EMC2 – Assessing Environmental Aspects & Associates Impacts (Practical Application)

  • Element 8: Control of waste and land use
  • Element 9: Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate addresses the following key areas:

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is evaluated through two components:

  • In Unit EMC1, candidates take an online written examination with a 24-hour submission window, where they must showcase the knowledge acquired from the course.
  • Unit EMC2 entails a practical assessment conducted at the candidate’s workplace. This practical assessment is required to be submitted within 14 days of the exam date booking.

Those who successfully complete the course and pass the assessments are awarded the official NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management.

All assessment results should be received within 50 working days from the date of the examination or submission of the practical risk assessment. The specific date will be provided on examination entry confirmation forms.

Are there any entry requirements for NEBOSH Certificates?

  • There are no specific entry requirements, making the NEBOSH Certificate an excellent health and safety training starting point. However, learners should possess a reasonable English standard to understand and communicate the concepts in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher on the IELTS Test. What level are NEBOSH qualifications?

  • NEBOSH Certificates are level 3, equivalent to an A Level qualification.

When and how will I receive my NEBOSH results and NEBOSH certificate?

  • NEBOSH provides results after completing the course, typically 10 to 12 weeks after the exams. Your certificates will be sent out once the results are released.

Is the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate difficult?

  • NEBOSH certificates require a commitment to study and can be challenging. However, you can complete the qualification with an interest in health, safety, and the environment, along with a good command of English.

What is the pass mark for the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate?
